Why violin?
It sounds beautiful
The violin is the most expressive of all musical instruments. With the right teacher, you should be able to make a great sound after just a few lessons.
So much music!
Some of the world's best music has been written for the violin. Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Elgar and many, many more wrote for the violin, from simple tunes, to exquisite violin concertos.
Develops discipline
Learning to play really well takes practice. Lots of it. Self-discipline is like a muscle; the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets. Developing good habits practising the violin can have countless benefits in other areas of life.
Just turn up!
I want you to be able to start learning without worrying about buying loads of stuff. If you've got a violin already, then great! If not, you can borrow a really decent violin free of charge for as long as you're having lessons with me. More info on the offers page.
Make friends
The violin is one of the more sociable instruments to learn. There is no shortage of chamber music for two or more instruments including the violin. It can be really rewarding to play together with other people.
